I am a creature of habit and a product of my childhood. Five o'clock hit today and I wanted to watch the weather. I turned to 21Alive news. It brought me back to my childhood. Coming home from school, doing homework, and sitting down to dinner. We had a little TV in our dining room. It sat on a shelf in the corner. We always watched the news on channel 7. I just texted my mom and sister because I couldn't remember the guys name that anchored the news. It was Keith Edwards. While his name didn't sound familiar, his picture brings me back. I just watched his last broadcast on Youtube. He anchored with Melissa Long. I remember when she retired too because I felt like a part of my childhood was over. Is that insane to think? News anchors really do come into your home. My sister brought up Sandy Thompson. She was the weather lady. Jane Hersha popped into my mind too. I told my mom and sister she was a redhead, but I couldn't remember her name. My mom said, "wasn't she a drunk?" HAHA. I'm pretty sure she was. She would do the 3Rivers Festival Parade and I remember watching it on TV thinking she was drunk. So many memories. Good memories too.
As I turned on the weather today, it took me back to my childhood house on Eastbrook Drive. I was back in the dining room, sitting at the round kitchen table. I always sat facing the TV. My dad sat to my left, my mom to my right, and my sister across from me. I could look out the window and see my next door neighbor's house. The chairs were a beige leather, bucket-seat type, with silver legs, that you could spin in. I can smell the steam coming off the vegetables. We were probably having cauliflower or broccoli.
What a trip down memory lane with many more to take.
