Car Snob

I leased my first car after I got into a really bad accident while in college. It was a two-door green Pontiac Grand Am. My favorite part was the sunroof. Before that, I drove a two-door black Chevrolet Spectrum with black matching hubcaps (my dad spray painted them so they'd match). Since, my Grand Am, I have leased a white two-door Honda Accord (still my favorite to this day), blue four-door Honda Accord (my least favorite - hated having a four-door car), white Honda Civic (2 actually), and now I'm driving a two-door blue Honda Accord.  My Grand Am, I leased for five years, but the rest, have been three year leases. Yes, I realize that I should keep a car and work on paying it off. The main reason I started leasing was so that if anything went wrong with the vehicle, I wouldn't have to pay for it. Same reason I rented an apartment for almost ten years. I like the security and convenience of leasing and having the repairs being someone else's responsibility.

I remember driving the Chevrolet Spectrum and if you had the a.c. on, you'd have to turn it off to get any type of speed when pulling away from a red light. I dreamed of having the a.c. on and a sunroof open. I'm now on my 5th Honda and I can honestly say I'll never drive anything else. Love me a Honda.  Since driving the car I have now, which has been less than two years, it's now in the body shop for the 2nd time.  The first time, I rented a vehicle to drive while it was being repaired. I drove a red Ford Focus. Kill me. Overall, I hated it. When I got my car back, it was like slipping into a Rolls Royce (so I presume). My car now has a camera so when you back up, it turns on and when you use your right turn signal, the camera turns on. It took me a little bit to get used to the camera. I couldn't just overnight forget everything I'd been taught and had being doing for 19 years; which was to stop using the mirrors when backing up.  Right now, I'm driving my niece's Honda while mine is in the body shop. I'm just glad it's a Honda and not another Ford. I was at work Tuesday and went to back up into a parking spot and instantly my eyes diverted to the dashboard to look at the camera. Yeah, no camera. I panicked because I couldn't figure out where to divert my eyes to make sure I was backing up in between the yellow lines and that I wasn't going to hit anything. So, I slammed on the breaks and readjusted myself.  I've tried no less than 50 times in the last two days to switch radio stations or adjust the volume using the controls on the steering wheel. Worst part? I've had to listen to the radio for the last two days. Fort Wayne has the crappiest radio stations.  No USB port to plug my iPod into, or blue tooth to stream Pandora. I've come to the conclusion that I am a huge car snob and I like my shit fancy. I like my heated leather seats. I like my camera(s). I like the capability of plugging my electronics in.

Another year and I'll be trading this vehicle in. Wonder what new fancy stuff Honda has up their sleeve?
