Anyone Seen My Balls?

I've been working at Don Ayres since September. Every time I go to work, I see this blue Honda Accord sitting on the lot. Last week, I told my dad about it. I figured it was completely far fetched that I would be able to lease this car for a reasonable price. I am only a year and a half into a three year lease and I'm driving a Civic. After looking online, I saw that this blue car was a 2013 and had all of the bells and whistles. Now I'm convinced I wouldn't be able to afford it. My dad said just talk to the sales manager and approach it the way you just explained to me. The next day I'm pondering calling or just going over to talk to the sales manager. By the way, I've leased five cars from this guy and now I'm working at the dealership. Yet, I'm chickening out at the thought of talking to him. I texted my dad and said I will talk to the sales manager when I find my balls. I'm usually not one to lose them, but I had in this situation.

I ended up stopping in to see the sales manager that day before I clocked in. It went well and later that night I got a quote. I said I had to think about it.  I called the next day and gave a counteroffer.  I had to wait over the weekend to hear back.  On Monday, I was told they couldn't get the price down any further. On Tuesday, a different sales manager asked if I had bought the car.  I explained what I'm paying now, what was offered, and what I offered to pay.  Ten minutes later, my offer was accepted.

This is the first time I've ever negotiated the lease of a car. I've always had my dad there and normally would call my mom at some point to discuss the monthly payment and budget.

I got home from work on Wednesday and there was something hanging on my door...

...yep, those are my balls. Thanks to my dad I now have a "trophy" aka my "balls."

I guess this means I'm growing up.  I owe it to both my parents for teaching me well.

Oh, here's my new car. Pretty, huh?
